The CombiFamily (CombiReader™, CombiMemory™, CombiSmart®, and GuardDogs) are intelligent devices that verify that an individual is the rightful owner of a personal identification card or other token by scanning his or her actual fingerprint and comparing the scanned print with fingerprint data (called a template) printed or stored on the token.
The validation is performed at the Combi/GuardDog, so no fingerprint data need be stored in or transmitted to a central database. This feature makes the CombiFamily an economical alternative to database biometric security systems, where the database is the most expensive component and is subject to compromise.
- Standalone identity verification where the Combi/GuardDog confirms that a person is the rightful holder of a token that he or she is carrying.
- Access control where the Combi/GuardDog verifies that the token belongs to the carrier and interfaces with other control devices (access control panel, alarm inputs/outputs, door latches, etc.) via Wiegand or digital inputs/outputs. Again, the comparison of the scanned print with the fingerprint template is done in the Combi/GuardDog. No fingerprint information is transmitted to another computer. In an access control application, the Combi/GuardDog can work autonomously (storing all access control information locally) or in a network configuration, with critical information stored on a security server.
- Time and attendance where the Combi/GuardDog confirms that the token belongs to the carrier and also generates a log entry for each transaction. The Combi/GuardDog can work autonomously or in a network configuration.
CombiReader™ For large biometric-based ID applications such as state driver's licensing, the CombiReader uses an industry standard ISO 7810 card with a PDF-417 barcode. CombiReader is the perfect solution for static information applications.

CombiMemory™ For biometric-based physical access applications such as securing data centers, IT rooms, and employee entrances, the CombiMemory uses an industry standard I²C memory card. CombiMemory is the perfect solution for secure access applications.
